Our Studios

Origin Studios are built to residential construction standards to serve as a four-season home, not a shed. We use the most innovative building materials on the market, starting with Structural Insulated Panels to create a seamless building envelope, and integrating elements like heated floors that provide exceptional energy efficiency. We have designed the Zen Den and The Lalit with great attention to detail and we also provide customized designs.

The Zen Den

We call it the Zen Den, but you can call it whatever you like, as long as it sparks joy. This is the philosophy behind our designs and what we hope to spark as you occupy your new space, be it: your office, your she-shed, your reading room, your garden cottage, your exercise room.

The Lalit

We expanded our newest studio with a bed, bath and kitchen to create a full suite. At 250 sq ft this studio can be used as an in-law suite, an Airbnb rental, or a backyard retreat. We're calling it the Lalit, which carries many meanings that resonate with this design. In French "lalit" is literally bed, but in Sanskrit it means sweet, elegant, graceful. And in classical Hindustan music, the Lalit is a raga regarded as serene and devotional and performed at the dawn of the day. Call it whatever you want, but we think this space will support rest and rejuvenation to rise and shine each day.

Casa Zama

We have been working with great care and attention on our newest space called Casa Zama. Zama means "dawn" in Mayan, and was the original name of the town of Tulum on the Caribbean Sea, the place that first received sunlight in the Mayan kingdom each day. We want this unit to be a place to rest, rise and shine at the dawn of each day. At 300 square feet, this unit is a larger version of the Zen Den with full bath, kitchen and living space. Our first unit is under construction now for installation in Santa Rosa, CA. Stay tuned for more images and design details, but we are taking orders for this unit now.
