Origin Studios are built to the highest residential standards and provide four-season comfort. We create a seamless building envelope, insulated to the max, and utilize the most innovative materials on the market, including nano tech heated floors and heat-exchange ACs, providing exceptional energy efficiency. We have designed our ADUs with meticulous attention to detail. Each unit is made-to-order in concert with you.

Solstice

The Solstice ADU was conceived during the summer solstice. These pivotal moments of the year--whether in the northern or southern hemisphere--when daylight and darkness find their extremes and begin to transition, symbolize balance and harmony. These ideas are at the heart of the Solstice design, playing with symmetry to find balance. The distinctive offset modules play with this aim, creating two private patio areas and avoiding a simple square design. This layout offers versatility, fitting within various yard shapes and enhancing outdoor living space. We crafted this ADU as a two bedroom unit with a large shared common space. Solstice is being thoroughly thought out to create balance and lots of elevating appeal. With its meticulous planning, Solstice promises to bring light and warmth to any property.

The Sahar

If you haven't noticed yet, we draw inspiration for naming our units from around the world and from that magical time at the dawn of each day, when hope and opportunity flow high. We've all experienced the peace and tranquility of that time just before the sun rises. Our new unit is named Sahar, an Arabic word that means "just before dawn". We draw from this inspiration as we build these units and create a place to rest, rise and shine each day. At 420 SF or 550 SF, this unit has a spacious bathroom, 1 or 2 separate bedrooms, kitchen and living space. Our first unit is under construction now for installation in Carlsbad, CA. Stay tuned for more images and design details, but we are taking orders for this unit now.

Design Details

Encanto

Our newest ADU speaks to enchantment, family, and memories. Yes, it’s the title of a Disney movie, but nobody owns language or the right to make magic. We crafted this ADU with extended families in mind because our units are being used more and more to house parents, siblings, and young adults. It’s a beautiful thing to watch families come together, with the possibility of proximity while retaining privacy. Encanto was meticulously crafted to enchant and delight at every turn. It's sized for a both a private retreat and a place to make memories with the ones you love.

Design Details

Casa Zama

We worked with great care and attention on our space called Casa Zama. Zama means "dawn" in Mayan, and was the original name of the town of Tulum on the Caribbean Sea, the place that first received sunlight in the Mayan kingdom each day. We want this unit to be a place to rest, rise and shine at the dawn of each day. At 300 square feet, this unit is a larger version of the Zen Den with full bath, kitchen and living space. Our first unit is under construction now for installation in Santa Rosa, CA. Stay tuned for more images and design details, but we are taking orders for this unit now.

Design Details

The Lalit

We expanded our original studio to include a bed, bath and kitchen, creating a full suite. At 250 sq ft this studio can be used as an in-law suite, an Airbnb rental, or a backyard retreat. We're calling it the Lalit, which carries many meanings that resonate with this design. In French "lalit" is literally bed, but in Sanskrit it means sweet, elegant, and graceful. And in classical Hindustan music, the Lalit is a raga regarded as serene and devotional and performed at the dawn of the day. Call it whatever you want, but we think this space will support rest and rejuvenation to rise and shine each day.

We call it the Zen Den, but you can call it whatever you like, as long as it sparks joy. This is the philosophy behind our designs and what we hope to spark as you occupy your new space, be it: your office, your she-shed, your reading room, your garden cottage, your exercise room.
